Caesarian Romans
The growth of the Roman Empire weakened Rome's old political system of the Republic, and eventually, in January 49 BC, Julius Caesar, the conqueror of Gaul, marched his legions against Rome.
He ruled Rome for four years and declared himself the first Emperor of the Roman Empire, until he was assassinated in 44 BC.
