In June 1940 the American army asked for a vehicle that could "go-anywhere". The answer was the four-wheel drive Willys MB and the Ford GPW, both models referred to as 'Jeeps'. 630,000 jeeps were produced by the end of the war.

This model really blew my mind!!!
In historical photos, the average man's knees clear the top of a Willy's Jeep wheels. The wind shield is a tad shorter than a standing man's shoulders.
I compared this model to the older weapons free US infantry sprue figures, the newer weapon in hand US infantry and Wee Gee's winter soviet infantry. The jeep is slightly oversized for 1/48 Wee Gee infantry. 1/56 scale infantry will look like munchkins next to it.
