This figure is a great one to work with. It cleans up nicely and has plenty of detail to pick out for a figure its size. Bismarck was simple to prep for painting, and took the iconic "Baltic Strip" pattern easily, with just a wee bit of care.
Another nice aspect is the turret wells are wide enough to easily drill, I was able to effortlessly magnetize the 4 main turrets, so Bismarcks broadside can actually face its doomed targets.
Quick "first game out" story. I was facing off against a Japanese navy, including their giant, Yamato (another awesome model with lots of detail for its size). As we close, the Yamato fires her first broadside and luckily, only scores one hit. But that one hit damaged the rudder, similar to what happened in WW2. Second salvo, Yamato again only scores one hit, but my opponent gets lucky a second time, and my Bismarck gets "Hooded" and explodes. Bismarck did not go down in vain however, as the unintentionally early sacrifice allowed the rest of the squadron to run to the opponents table edge (utilizing destroyer smoke laying), thus, tactically, winning the game!
